Practitioners of Southern Africa (AIPSA) is a non-profit organisation
with a membership of about 350 qualified Insolvency Practitioners, Lawyers
and Chartered Accountants. This site contains sections geared specifically
to AIPSA Members, as well as those interested in joining the Association.

Membership Guidelines
Members of the Association shall be divided into the following categories,
whose qualifications and methods of election shall be as follows:
Honorary Members
Persons who have enjoyed a distinguished career in the field of insolvency
administration, commerce or education or in the Office of the Master or
who, in the opinion of the Council, are qualified for such membership. Election
of honorary members shall be by the Association in General Meeting upon
nomination by the Council. Despite election no person shall become an honorary
member unless he/she has agreed in writing to his/her election or accepted
honorary membership after election.
Practicing Members
Any individual who is either:
- An Attorney, qualified as such, who is a member of
a Law Society within the Republic and who is actively engaged in insolvency
administration, as defined
- A Chartered Accountant, qualified as such, who is
member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and who
is actively engaged in insolvency administration, as defined.
- Any other person who has passed the examination set
by the Association from time to time or who has in the opinion of the
Council an equivalent qualification and who is actively engaged in insolvency
administration, as defined.
- An existing member of the Association as at 31 December
2000 who is actively engaged in insolvency administration, as defined,
as at that date.
Non-Practicing Members
Any individual who is:
- An Attorney, qualified as such, who is a member of
a Law Society within the Republic, or a Chartered Accountant, qualified
as such, who is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered
Accountants, who is not actively engaged in insolvency administration,
as defined.
- Any other person who has passed the examination set
by the Association from time to time or who has in the opinion of the
Council an equivalent qualification and who is not actively engaged
in insolvency administration, as define.
- Any other person who in the opinion of the Council,
has an interest in insolvency administration, and/or has suitable experience
in insolvency administration.
- An existing member of the Association as at 31 December
2000 who is not actively engaged in insolvency administration, as defined,
as at that date.
Change of membership
Any non-practising member can, at any time become eligible to be admitted
as a practising member may apply to the Council for a change of membership
from a non-practising to a practising member.
